Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick - Review and Swatches

This review has been planned for a long time but I've put it off until I finished school and bought all the colors to review.  It's Wet n Wild's Silk Finish Lipstick.  You can find this in most drugstores (Walgreens, Duane Reade, Rite Aid) and they sell for 99 cents each.  They're such a steal!  There are 22 colors out right now and I bought all of them.

The lipsticks come in a simple silver tube with a clear plastic lid.  This is one of my favorite lipsticks to wear but I do have a few complaints.  The lipstick bullet does not twist all the way down so you have to be really careful opening and closing to avoid nicking the bullet.  Also, most of the colors available are frosty which are a little harder to pull off.

Here be the pictures!  Beware, there are a LOT of pictures (remember to enlarge for details).

My collection of 22 Silk Finish Lipsticks
I have separated the lipsticks into color categories of browns, peaches, pinks, and reds.

Breeze:  frosty light peach; this is a really popular color for people to use for a nude lip.  However, I find it way too frosty and light for my skintone.

Java on face
Java:  tan creme with no shimmer - for future reference, when I say "creme", it means that there are no glitters or shimmers in the lipstick.

Mink Brown

Mink Brown:  dark brown creme

Cashmere lip swatch
Cashmere on face
Cashmere:  dark, cool-toned brown with silver shimmer.  It gives off a frosty finish that makes the lipstick look gray; it's very hard to pull off.

Sunset Peach

Blushing Bali:  another peachy pink color, great MLBB.  It's not as frosty as previous two; it's more pink than peach.

Dark Wine

Dark Wine:  name fits perfectly; it's a dark plum/wine color that's perfect for the fall vampy look.  This was actually the first Silk Finish Lipstick I bought to try out the vampy look because it was so inexpensive.

Black Orchid

Black Orchid:  dark plum/red with hints of brown.  This was the second color I bought for the vampy look because Dark Wine wasn't dark enough for my taste.  I really like this one too.

I really recommend these lipsticks if you can find them near you.  They feel amazing on the lips; they're really moisturizing and pigmented.  The darker colors go on opaque in just one swipe!  I love all the creme colors and even though I'm not too fond of frosty finishes, the amazing consistency was the same in those lipsticks also.  Please check this out if it's in your area!

Have you tried Wet n Wild's Silk Finish Lipsticks?  If you have, what are your favorite colors?

  1. Lovely swatches! Thanks this was very helpful!! :)

    1. Thank you! Let me know what you decide to get =)

  2. Thank you so much for the swatches.

    1. No problem! I hope you found one you liked :)

  3. hi, i want to try some of these lippies specifically pink noveau and fuschia with blue pearl but i'm not sure if i can pull it off.. i don't have fair skin.. i have honey colored skin tone and i usually opt to buy lippies with a mixture of red and brown shade.

    1. I think you should go for it! They're only $1 each and I think Fuchsia with Blue Pearl is surprisingly beautiful. I have medium yellow skintone and I found it to be wearable :)

  4. Thank you! Just what I needed. Do you know who has the biggest selection?

    1. Glad I helped! The drugstore with the biggest selection seems to be Rite Aid and KMart. I would start with those first and then Walgreens and Duane Reade for the rest :)

  5. Which one is most like Taylor Swift's notorious red lip color? Thanks for the swatches!!

    1. I'm not sure, but I think her lipstick is usually true red. I think the closest color to a true red would be Cinnamon. Hope this helps!

  6. Thank you for the swatches. I have 8 colors but I want more.

    1. You're very welcome! If Wet n Wild decides to release more colors in this line, I know I would definitely buy them all. I love their texture and pigmentation. Thank you for stopping by!
