Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick - Review and Swatches

This review has been planned for a long time but I've put it off until I finished school and bought all the colors to review.  It's Wet n Wild's Silk Finish Lipstick.  You can find this in most drugstores (Walgreens, Duane Reade, Rite Aid) and they sell for 99 cents each.  They're such a steal!  There are 22 colors out right now and I bought all of them.

The lipsticks come in a simple silver tube with a clear plastic lid.  This is one of my favorite lipsticks to wear but I do have a few complaints.  The lipstick bullet does not twist all the way down so you have to be really careful opening and closing to avoid nicking the bullet.  Also, most of the colors available are frosty which are a little harder to pull off.

Here be the pictures!  Beware, there are a LOT of pictures (remember to enlarge for details).

Oslo Cosmetics - Eyeshadow and Lip Slicks Review and Swatches

My second Oslo Cosmetics order has finally come!  I'm in love with this company and raved about their products in my first post here.  I made my second order within days of receiving my first after seeing more swatches.  I ordered two blogger packs this time because I really wanted to try their new Lip Slicks.

After contacting Joyce about tweaking my order to include Lip Slicks instead of eyeshadows, she was really generous and sent me more than I had asked for!  I'm already prepared to make my third order since I've convinced myself that I need every single shadow that Joyce puts out.  I'm excited and waiting for her to release her Game of Thrones collection this weekend!

My order, with lids off
I received five full-sized shadows, two shadow sampes, one glitter sample, and four Lip Slicks in mini jars.  Be prepared as this post will be REALLY picture heavy.

October Ipsy Bag - The Art of Beauty

I'm finally caught up on Ipsy posts!  For the month of October, the theme was "The Art of Beauty".  We got a white bag with the words, "Love of beauty is taste.  The creation of beauty is art."

September Ipsy Bag - Classic Beauty

Okay, the Ipsy's September bag has got to be my favorite by far.  September is my favorite month not only because it's my birth month, but also because it's the start of fall.  Fall is my favorite season out of the year because of its transitional weather, not too hot and not too cold.

Anywho, the theme for September's Ipsy bag was Classic Beauty.  The bag is beautiful blue with intricate black designs and I have contemplated on using it as an actual clutch on various occasions.  Following the classic beauty theme, they have included products that would be perfect for a smoky eye.

August Ipsy Bag - Glamour Academy

For the month of August, Ipsy's theme was Glamour Academy.  They send out four to five products inside a purple bag with an Ipsy coat of arms stamped in gold.

I know it looks like I only received four products, but I had actually gotten five.  I got the NYX cream blush, Pixi Beauty mascara, Noya lip balm, Mica Beauty eyeshadow in Bronze, and Michael Todd's Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub.  However, I had really wanted to try Urban Decay's lipsticks so I traded another Ipsy subscriber for it.

July Ipsy Bag - Beach Beauty

A couple months back, I had finally caved and subscribed to a monthly beauty box called Ipsy.  For $10/month (plus tax), you get a makeup bag filled with four to five beauty products from different companies.  The famous YouTube guru Michelle Phan is one of its spokeswomen and I finally caved after seeing the products that people were getting.

Each month, Ipsy comes up with a different theme for their bag and products.  July's theme was Beach Beauty.  I received a hot pink waterproof bag and five products.

Fyrinnae - Eyeshadow Reviews and Swatches!

I feel like whenever people think of indie eyeshadows, they automatically think of Fyrinnae.  Fyrinnae seems to have been around for awhile because I know I've heard of it for years, especially their Arcane Magic Eye Shadows.  Arcane Magic Eye Shadows are shadows that change color in different lights, which are now more widely known as "duochrome".

I decided to buy 3 sample shadows (including one Arcane) and a sample of their famous Pixie Epoxy glitter glue.  I really wanted to get a sample of Mephisto which seems to be a complicated purple, blue, and red all together.  Too bad it was currently not for sale due to complaints (not sure who would complain about such a beautiful shadow!), but it may come back on sale in November.

Anywho, here come pictures - remember to click to enlarge:

Geek Chic Cosmetics: Review and Swatches

Geek Chic Cosmetics is an indie makeup company that was shown to me by my geeky friend.  Similar to Shiro Cosmetics, Geek Chic is aimed at a sci-fi loving audience.  Their eyeshadow sets are inspired by some of the most popular science fiction shows such as Doctor Who, Babylon 5, Firefly, etc.  They also have Harry Potter and Zelda themed shadows.

Their full-sized shadows retail for $6, while samples in clamshell containers go for $1.25.  They often have a Set of the Month deal where one set of eyeshadow go for half-off per month.  I made my order during the Zelda month.  Their turnaround time then was 7 days (excluding weekends and holidays); they shipped out my package on the 7th day and it arrived to me around 3 days later.

This is what I had ordered, one full-sized Zelda themed eyeshadow and six samples.  As you can see, they come in little clamshell containers and have stickers of the name and ingredient on them.  However, I found the clamshell extremely messy whenever I opened and closed the containers so pressed the shadows instead.  The stickers have been peeled off and stuck onto the palette that now holds my shadows.

I had asked the company to send me some stickers because I loved their sticker designs.  However, stickers only come with full-sized containers and I was missing out since I was buying samples.  Geek Chic graciously sent me loads of stickers with a personal thank-you on my invoice.

Oslo Cosmetics - Swatches and Review

I have been dabbling more and more into indie makeup companies; I find their quality excellent and love how you can also order sample products rather than only buying full-sized products you may or may not like.

I recently discovered a new company called Oslo Cosmetics.  They sell everything from eyeshadows, cream bases, lip products, and glitter.  The owner, Joyce, is a really nice girl and has excellent customer service; I've emailed her a few times and commented on their facebook page and have gotten really quick responses.

This is the first order I made and it was shipped the next day and I received it before the weekend.  How amazing is that?  I ordered the Blogger Pack for $10, which includes 4 full-sized shadows which retail for around $5-6 each.  I chose Carinae, Taurus, Monstrum, and Grus; Joyce also gave me Vela as a free sample.

Shiro Cosmetics: Eyeshadow and Intertube Swatches and Review

I'm back everyone!  So sorry for the months long hiatus, but I was concentrating on summer classes, internship, and graduation.  I'm happy to say I have finally graduated and only have to focus on my internship and blog :)

Anywho, this post is about an independent company I've recently discovered called Shiro Cosmetics.  My lovely friend introduced me to this company because we are both makeup junkies with a geeky side.  Shiro Cosmetics prides itself in being a blend of both geekery and makeup.  I decided to get a bunch of their eyeshadows and lip products in sample sizes ($1/ea. and $1.80/ea., respectively).

WARNING:  This post will be picture heavy, so turn away if a million pictures annoy you.

Order came in this cute little bubble mailer

The owner, Caitlin, adds free candy and samples with every order :)

All my shadow and lip samples in tiny baggies.  I also ordered two full-sized products.
